Campaign Finance (Sunshine) Reporting

Each candidate for elected office in Cassia County is required to comply with the Sunshine Law. That includes financial reporting as outlined in the 2024 Campaign Disclosure Manual.pdf

All candidates are required to file their campaign finance reports online through the Idaho Secretary of State’s website.

The Idaho Secretary of State’s website for Elections, Campaign Disclosures and Lobbyists page provides the instructions for a candidate to complete those requirements. On 12/20/2023 the campaign finance system for reporting political transactions for the entire state of Idaho changed to a new, custom-built and modern system for Idaho called Sunshine. Campaign Finance a Guide for Candidates

Important Campaign Signage and Advertising Information

In Idaho, campaign signs must indicate the person or group that provides the funding for the sign (IC 67-6614A). IC 40-1910 also prohibits signs from being placed within the rights-of-way of any highways, in areas that are visible from interstate or primary highways, or in drainage ditches. The Idaho Transportation Department has stated that it will not grant any exceptions to this rule under any circumstances. Signs must not imitate danger or directional signs and should be kept in good repair. Signs placed in restricted areas will be removed by the Transportation Department. Additionally, IC 18-7029 says that anyone who places a political sign on public or private property without permission is guilty of a misdemeanor.
